AMTICO sought to provide the best possible finish for their designer resilient vinyl floor tiles. The existing concrete floor was uneven with an irregular surface and since it was originally part of the warehouse it was dirty and dusty. Given resilient vinyl finishes will relax to the shape and texture of the concrete, there is the danger of resultant show-through with inferior levelling cements.
To get back to a solid clean concrete, captive shot-blasting equipment was used to remove all contaminants and any weak concrete. ARDEX 51 primer was used before installing a 3mm layer of ARDEX K15. The self levelling properties of ARDEX K15 provided a super flat floor without further need for expensive grinding or resurfacing. The reflection in the finished floor is testimony to the smooth, even finish provided by ARDEX K15.
