Building Tomorrow
ARDEX New Zealand is proud to be Toitū carbonreduce certified. We have achieved this certification from Toitū Envirocare for our efforts in measuring and reducing our carbon footprint. Our progress is measured by an annual audit of gross emissions by Toitū, helping ensure we are doing our part in reducing climate change contributions.
Certification Details:
- The Toitū carbonreduce certification is in accordance with ISO 14064-1.
- You can find the Toitū Certificate [here].
“By localising our manufacturing processes, we are able to reduce sea freight distances and minimise the carbon
footprint associated with transporting materials. This not only supports our sustainability goals but also strengthens our commitment to the New Zealand community.”
– Andrew Clayton, Operations Manager
“The ARDEX Group has set several global sustainability goals, many of which will take time and require advancements in raw materials technology. Achieving Toitū Carbon Reduce has allowed us to deeply examine our local efforts and focus on innovative ideas that can make a difference now as we prepare for the future. At ARDEX, we believe that focusing on new technologies and removing carbon where possible, rather than offsetting, is a step in the right direction for the benefit of the planet.”
– Ronald Rose, Commercial Director
SUSTAINABILITY PROJECTS AT ARDEX NEW ZEALAND
We believe that sustainability isn’t just about reducing emissions – it’s about transforming how we operate and influence the entire construction industry.
We have been manufacturing in New Zealand since 1941. By focusing on localising production, we are able to significantly reduce sea freight distances and minimise transportation-related emissions. This not only reduces our environmental footprint but also strengthens our connection to the New Zealand economy, providing high-quality products with a reduced carbon impact.
ARDEX WeldTec® range is proudly made in New Zealand. By manufacturing locally, we reduce our carbon footprint associated with transportation and support the local economy. ARDEX WeldTec® range not only aligns with our sustainability goals but also ensures the highest quality and reliability for our customers.
“ARDEX NZ has taken their world-first weldable rubber technology and further improved it by removing the plastic slip sheet within each roll of ARDEX WPM 715. This project took over two years of development and external testing to change the surface properties of ARDEX WPM 715, allowing the removal of this slip sheet, saving 20m2 of soft plastic waste in every roll. Based on 2023 sales, this equates to a saving of a potential 22,000m2 of soft plastic waste.”
– Andrew Clayton, Operations Manager
To further reduce transportation emissions, we are transitioning to a hybrid fleet. As of September 2024, 22% of our vehicles are hybrid, with the goal of achieving 100% hybrid vehicles by 2030.
Whenever possible, we ensure our containers are fully loaded helps reduce the total number of shipments, directly lowering emissions and operational inefficiencies.
We are actively investing in cutting-edge technologies to reduce our environmental footprint.
We are committed to using energy efficiently throughout our operations, aiming to reduce our energy consumption and carbon footprint. All lights in our facilities are being replaced with energy-efficient LEDs to minimise energy use.
We have implemented waste management strategies to reduce waste sent to landfill and promote recycling and reuse wherever possible. Initiatives such as localised improved new recycling streams and maximise recycling of waste in conjunction with our waste partners
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have been concretely defined by the United Nations and target values that are as verifiable as possible have been set to be achieved by 2030. With the help of the stakeholder analysis, we were able to define a majority of the 17 SDGs for us, which are of particular relevance. We are committed to acting responsibly, and our contribution to the SDGs plays a crucial role in this.
