New Luxury Resort Receives the SystemARDEX Treatment

Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay

Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay

For the five-star Marriott Resort Momi Bay, attention to every detail was of paramount importance. ARDEX New Zealand’s total system for waterproofing and tiling provided the essentials to ensure the longevity of the luxury design.

Installer: East/West Engineering
Builder: Fletcher Pacific Construction
Architect: The Buchan Group

Located at Momi Bay, on the coast of the Fijian island of Viti Levu, the Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay is sited in the centre of a 21-hectare man-made lagoon that was once a sugar cane farm. Construction on the 250-room luxury resort began in 2016, with 92 free-standing beachside bures, 22 overwater bures and 136 rooms. The resort also includes expansive function rooms for weddings and events, marina facilities, food and beverage outlets and a range of recreational activities.

When construction began on the resort in 2016, SystemARDEX provided a total system for waterproofing and tiling the entire resort’s roofing, bathrooms, wet areas, and tiled areas. Throughout the project, Ardex New Zealand worked closely with the builder, Fletcher Pacific Construction, and the applicator, East/West Engineering, to ensure any problems were resolved during frequent site visits.

The design, by Australian architects The Buchan Group, is sensitive to the resort’s picturesque lagoon setting and showcases materials sourced locally, including rock from the site, traditional timbers and woven ceiling panels to ensure the resort looks authentic yet contemporary. Each thatched-roof bure features large glass windows and an expansive balcony to maximise the spectacular views from each room and provide ready access to the lagoon and beaches.

The spectacular five-star resort is now open and attracting visitors from all corners of the globe to its relaxed and luxurious ambience.
